June 30th Review

The picks from yesterday were 4 of 5, for a 13% gain. (3.3% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

TRW - "This stock is starting to look interesting when it breaks the $12 mark soon. If not, it's just a triple top." - Nice move over $12 today, but it did pull back. Let's watch and see what happens tomorrow.
RAD - "I'm a buyer over the 20-day MA and the 1.50 combination breakout here." - Nice chance to buy today...I think we go higher tomorrow.
FUQI - "Easy breakout buy over the $20 mark tomorrow." - Nice mid-day move to the $22 mark...I think it will move higher over time. Gain of around 8% on the trade.
DCGN - "This is an example of a hype spike...it'll cool down soon." - Gain of around 5% so far. A lot more to come, I think.

Picks that were not triggered:

XIDE - "I'm liking this stock over the $4 mark after it has really been sold off lately." - Well, it had a nice day of buying today, but it was just a tough open to overcome. The stock really gapped down and isolated the move.

As I figured yesterday, today would be a day for selling in the major markets. Traders did just that, selling the market off just the amount it went up yesterday. We had a bearish engulfing on the daily Dow chart today, so that could spell bad things for tomorrow. I think we will tend to stay in this 500 point range for at least all of July. Trading volume just really dries up during the summer, and I think that causes a lack of movement over the next month to months. Here's some specific picks to watch:

VOCL - Nice double and then some for this small-cap, low-volume spiker. There might be a bit of news in this move, but this lately has just become too much. I'm waiting to short on this first sign of negativity.

CNXT - Here's a semiconductor name that is looking like it is close to a huge breakout. The 1.50 mark is what I am watching for...it did break its 200-day MA today, so that could also give it a boost ahead from here.

CWTR - This here is a speciality retailer that appears to be rebreaking out over the $6 mark after a touch and consolidation. If it goes, be ready to buy...but also be ready to wait a long while just to get a buck move out of this stock.

SPNG - After a solid week of selling, this stock is back in the buyers' minds. I'd risk a bottom pick here for a quick 10% move or so early tomorrow...we'll see.

June 29th Review

The picks from yesterday were 3 of 5, for a 40% gain. (13.3% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

CHBT - "This is nothing but a huge Friday move that you should be ready to short. Some will gap-down and be worthless...others will be great shorts. Be ready for both kinds." - We did get a gap-down from this name, but there was still a big short trade. Good for around 7%.
SMIT - "This is nothing but a huge Friday move that you should be ready to short. Some will gap-down and be worthless...others will be great shorts. Be ready for both kinds." - Nice morning panic...could have gone for around 6% on a decent trade.
CXM - "This is nothing but a huge Friday move that you should be ready to short. Some will gap-down and be worthless...others will be great shorts. Be ready for both kinds." - Here's what I was talking about...faulty open, huge gain of almost 27% on a nice short trade.

Picks that were not triggered:

ZN - "This is nothing but a huge Friday move that you should be ready to short. Some will gap-down and be worthless...others will be great shorts. Be ready for both kinds." - Gap-down, not much of a trade here.
YAVY - "This is nothing but a huge Friday move that you should be ready to short. Some will gap-down and be worthless...others will be great shorts. Be ready for both kinds." - Gap-down with not much volatility to boot. Not really a trade there.

On a day when Mr. Madoff recieved 150 years in prison for his massive Ponzi scheme, the overall market rallied strongly. Quite truthfully, this was just the market playing games with the public in my opinion. They know that when the nightly news comes on tonite, everyone will first see that this criminal was put off to jail for life, then the newscaster will next say that the market rose nicely today following the news. People will connect these and think the market condones this kind of conduct. In reality, the market is just trying to make money anyway possible. It's a nice spin, but we will have to see what happens tomorrow to really get a feel for the market.

Okay, let's get to some specifc picks for tomorrow now...here's what I got:

XIDE - This stock has ultimately gone from almost $7 a share to $3 in amost three trading weeks. I'm not exactly sure what has cause this constant sell-off...maybe a forced liquidation? Either way, I'm a buyer over the $4 line for a slow move higher.

TRW - Not exactly an easy small-cap play here, but I would definitely be a buyer of this stock over the $12 mark. If it can't break here, it's going to be a triple top. If it does break, I've got a price target of at least $14, but easily $16 depending on demand.

RAD - This company was really on the move about 2-3 months ago, but it has since cooled off. Some news was released today about debt refinancing. That is good news, so I'd watch for a combination break of the 20-day MA and 1.50 mark tomorrow for a nice continued move higher from here.

FUQI - Here's a continuation breakout buy over the $20 mark tomorrow possibly. I want to see good volume, otherwise it could just be a spoiled move. Today's volume was really, really nice...another day like that, and this thing is off to $25.

DCGN - The discovery that they reported today was cool, but it just needs more testing before you can tell if it is a legitimate discovery. This is an example of selling the news right now...it should be worth at least 10% or so...we'll see.

Weekend Update

The picks from last week were 13 of 18, for an overall gain of 183%. (14.08% compounded)

Well, the major indices were suffering again this week after a tough Monday. They slowly tried to bounce on Thursday, but the move was batted on Friday with no positive move at all. Volume on the major averages was normal, so there is really nothing to take from that. The spike on Thursday did give us a bounce back to the 50 mark on the RSI indicator, but the move back downward denied that move above. That 50 line has now become resistance with the break of the support on the Monday tank. No need for a chart, just watch for that stuff.

ZN, CHBT, SMIT, CXM, & YAVY - Now the huge moves in all of these names weren't because of options expiration, these are just Friday moves. Some of these will probably gap down, but of the ones that don't, be ready to short them. Faulty opens are great short opportunities.

I know it was a short post tonite, but it's summer! I want to get outside and enjoy it while I can. I'll save the longer posts for the snowy winters. Here's a song for the road to remember MJ:

June 25th Review

The picks from yesterday were 2 of 4, for a 12% gain. (6% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

MTMC - "This PR about a $40+M contract from the Navy is a little ridiculous. I want to short this sucker now." - Well, no such chance to short from the open...this thing really gapped down. There was an opportunity mid-day for a quick 5%.
QELP - "I'm seeing resistance in the 1.50 area here...ready to short." - Nice 7% gain on an early morning short trade.

Picks that were not triggered:

AHD - "This is the same type of play as QELP, but I think it has just begun to rise." - Well, I pulled the trigger on this name a bit too early as it continued to follow the other small oil names in trading today. Maybe tomorrow?
MBWM - "Regional bank that has broken that last little bit of support...should be a nice short down from here." - Wow, that's what I call a bounce. Someone wanted to save this sucker from going down the tubes. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

The Dow was really on the move higher today...the 200-day and 50-day MA's are really starting to converge on the chart. That usually means a big move in one direction. My guess is that is that it will be down from here, but we will just have to see. I'll have the Weekend Update up sometime this weekend with a new song...finally. Until then, here's a pick:

IFON - Wow, I mentioned this stock as a $1 breakout name not too long ago, and to pick up shares when it came back to $1ish. It did just that, so hopefully you all picked up shares. This one is now at 1.60, a nice 60% gain. It's getting a little steep for my taste, so I'd look to take some off the table and possibly flip to a short sell if it doesn't continue higher.

June 24th Review

The picks from yesterday were 3 of 4, for a 28% gain. (9.3% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

RJET - "With all that this company is buying right now, I think that they could become a "big" airline soon...I'm a buyer here." - Nice gain of almost 11% today after the huge spike yesteraday.
OC - "This is big name company that has been oversold of late...buyers should come in soon. I'm expecting a move to the 12.50 area." - Nice close right at 12.50 today...gain of 6%.
LZB - "Mr. Sykes is on to this one...just wait for all of the sheep to file out and then short this sucker." - Easy gain of 11% here.

Picks that were not triggered:

CVGI - "I want to see this stock break the 200-day MA and $2 resistance in one fell swoop soon." - Nothing today...this could take time to develop.

Okay, it's really late again, so I'm heading right to some stocks to watch for tomorrow. I'll be up with the rest of this post sometime tomorrow. Here's what I got:

MTMC - This stock had some big news today about a possible $40+M contract from the NAvy about securing "cyberspace." It seems to me that the U.S. Navy would spend more than $40M on something of this important...this could be a sketchy PR. I'm looking to short tomorrow.

QELP - Small oil/gas name that is back on the spike higher. This has moved from $1 to $1.50 in a very short time. I'm seeing some resistance in the 1.50 area, so watch for a possible short trade developing here early tomorrow morning.

AHD - Same type of play as QELP, but I think this one has more room to run. With oil on the rise back, some of these small names should start to run in packs. Watch 'em.

MBWM - Yeah, here's a regional bank that's on the move down again. It just broke the last bit of support and is hitting new lows. Short and hold this sucker here.

June 23rd Review

The picks from yesterday were 3 of 4, for a 16% gain. (5.3% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

ONTY - "This stock got stuck at its 50-day MA at the end of the day today...watching for some selling today." - Gain of 8% on the trade so far.
NAVI - "Nice bounce off of the 50 mark on RSI and buyback to come soon." - Nice bounce today, good for around 4% or so on the trade today.
GPRE - "A move under 4.50 should take this stock slowly down to around the 3.50 area." - Nice quick trade open this morning for around 4%...the stock did bounce back at the end of the day...watch for another short trade again tomorrow.

Picks that were not triggered:

EFUT - "Bounce time yet for this halver? I sure hope it will bounce right off of its 200-day MA." - No such bounce yet...tomorrow is the day.

Well, the Dow was struggling yet again to get moving in a positive direction. Now that the 50-day MA has been broken, it is going to be hard to bounce back above it. We saw today that it tested a rebreak, but nothing could materialize. I think sellers are in here now taking their gains from this past 40% move on the major indices. I'm expecting a nice slow move downward to at least 8,000ish mark in the near-term. Baidu was crushed again today, so that just goes to show that the "fun" names are going to get hit the hardest soon.

Okay, let's move on because the College World Series is on, and I am on my way to the Transformers premiere tonite...here's what I got:

RJET - This company has been making some big aquisitions of late, and I think it could become another big airline. The stock was up almost 50% today...if we get a break of the 50-day tomorrow, it could move some more. Nice one-year hold here.

CVGI - This breakout may take some time to develop, but I like the combination breakout of the 200-day MA and the $2 resistance mark. If some volume flows in, we could hit three quickly.

OC - They announced some interesting liscensing news today...this should help the stock at least push itself to the 20-day MA at around 12.50 soon. You can either play the normal shares or dabble with call options depending on your risk tolerance.

LZB - Big move today out of this poor furniture name. Mr. Sykes and crew were on it today, so I'd watch for them to file out soon and take gains. Nice short position should arise tomorrow morning or so. Mr. Sykes never holds for long.

June 22nd Review

The picks from yesterday were 4 of 5, for a 113% gain. (28.3% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

WPTE - "Here's an overdone move for the second time...watching for a pullback soon." - Small 2% move today...should get some more tomorrow.
BIDU - "I'd definitely pick up some put options in this stock tomorrow...it's gone too far too fast. It's just become a play-around stock." - Nice gain of close to 100% on most of the July puts.
IFON - "We had a ncie strong move on Friday, but I won't buy this sucker until we get a pull back to around $1 a share." - Nice chance to pounce at a buck today...gain of 5% already.
MTXX - "This company is going to have lawsuits out the wazoo after it's drug made some people lose their sense of smell. This is a continued short from these levels." - Gain of 6% today...more to come most likely.

Picks that were not triggered:

TSTR - "I was looking for the breakout on Thursday, and then a pull back after...now's the time for the pull back." - No such move today, but we did get an interesting indecision candle that should lead to a possible sell off soon.

Well as I mentioned yesterday and showed with the Dow chart, Dow 8,500 was what to watch, and today we really got hammered with a breakdown. I was expecting it to happen sooner or later because of the also breaking down RSI. This was a good clean sell off for the market. I think everyone knows that this just isn't a bounce back kind of thing. We are headed back down for good because this huge 2,500 point rally just couldn't stand for too long.

Here's some picks to watch for tomorrow:

ONTY - We got some news out today saying that Merck would be doing some studying on this company's drug. The stock was really on the move, but it kind of got stuck at the 50-day MA towards the end of the day. I'm looking for hype sell off tomorrow.

NAVI - I mentioned this stock a while back as a huge short opportunity, and well, it finally has made its collapse of almost 40%. Now I'm looking to buy for a bounce off of the $1 support and 20-day MA support here.

EFUT - Having to undergo "accounting adjustments" is never a good thing, but just maybe we can get a bounce back in this name soon. It has lost close to 50% and has come back to its 200-day MA. Bounce time??

GPRE - This name I mentioned a long while back as a good short and hold type play. It's finally breaking down now, so I'd be paying attention. If we move under 4.50, I'd expect a quick move down to 3.50 because the 20-day MA sure didn't hold us up today.

You know it's a bad time to find stocks when I am trying to bottom pick some stocks that have been tanking of late. I'll just stay with four tonite...if you got something else...feel free to leave a comment with the ticker symbol. Thanks.

Father's Day Weekend Update

The picks from this past week were 12 of 20, for an overall gain of 149%. (12.42% compounded)

So as this latest week came to a finish, the market finally took a breather. The main tumble came on Monday and Friday, with not much movement the rest of week. Here's the latest chart:

As you can see, I've drawn a new channel in which I expect the Dow to trade. I'm a new buyer over that 8,800ish level, but a continued seller if we break down below 8,500. I left the RSI on the bottom of this chart tonite too. We are back at that crucial 50 level, and I'm just kind of hoping now is the time it breaks down. Eventually it is going to have to happen...that's just the normal market conditions. The longer we stay here, the longer we are going to have to wait to see the 9,000's. I don't know about you, but I'd rather see it earlier than later.

Okay, let's move on to some picks to watch for tomorrow...here's what I got:

TSTR - You'll notice on Thursday that I said I wanted a buy on the breakout here, but I will also be ready for a short soon after. Well, now is soon after...so let's watch for it. Reserves some shares and wait for this sucker to go negative and watch people take some nice gains and sell it off strongly.

WPTE - This stock was high flying not too long back and it really looked like a nice short. It did end up falling back a good amount, but on Friday it got another quick surge. I'm a seller of this one just as much as the first spike.

IFON - I know I've mentioned this name before as a breakout type play. It was really off to the races yet again on Friday. I'd wait to purchase this sucker on some panic morning selling around the $1 mark soon.

MTXX - Yeah, this small company will most likely get hammered with lawsuits in the coming months after they had a recall of one of their drugs that could have caused a loss of smell. That's not a good thing. I think this is a sell under 5.50 on its way to 2.50 soon.

BIDU - If you check out the weekly chart on this sucker, the move has just been ridiculous. I might consider picking up some 6-month put options at this point. Sometime it is going to have to come back a bit as the company's business isn't getting this good over that short amount of time. It's simply a momentum play that should check back soon when the overall market does also.

And here's a video for the road...

June 18th Review

The picks from yesterday were 3 of 4, for a 38% gain. (12.7% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

STSI - "The stock had some bad news today, but they are going to fight it, and it should slowly move back up over time." - Nice gain of close to 25% on a decent trade today.
MSFT - "It's been a crazy last month for this stock as I have hardly seen any red...put options might be right in this situation." - Nice small gain on the puts today...3% or so. The options are definitely telling us that we should not go much higher than where we are right now.
MEA - "And here's a breakout buy for you all...I think it should work nice over the $4 mark for a quick 10%." - Wow, that call was scary dead on. Gain of 10% on the trade today on the breakout.

Picks that were not triggered:

NNLX - "This stock has doubled recently, and I think we should see a move down soon...wait for the green to red action." - Well, the gap-down really spoiled that fun.

As I mentioned yesterday, the indecision candle should lead to a medium sized move in one direction for the major indices. Today we got that medium sized move with a 50 point up day for the Dow. We are still stuck underneath the 200-day MA, so we should watch that. If we stay under...I'd keep a mildly bearish outlook on the market for the time being. Volume continues to be low in the markets, but that's just because it's summertime and people tend to take some time off.

Alrighty, let's move on to some picks to watch for tomorrow...here's mine:

GWSC - After two straight days of big selling, this stock has been back on the move higher. I'm looking to short under 2.25 tomorrow, but buying over 2.50. This stock has been volatile, and should continue to be volatile.

TSTR - Nice cup-and-handle type move here...it would have been nice to have been in on the buy today, but that's already passed. I think the next move should be an overextention, which should lead to a place to short.

APPY - This stock has a huge gap to fill, so I'd watch for a move over the 2.50 mark soon to buy into. I think over time it will make its way back to around the $4 mark--the nearest resistance.

CAST - Beautiful looking potential breakout here over the 6.50 mark. If you make sure the volume comes along with the breakout, then you should be set for a good 5% move to the upside.

DIGA - Here's yet another breakout name that may or may not get up to the 1.50 mark tomorrow. When it does, however, just be ready to buy some shares for a nice ride to around the $2 area.

June 17th Review

The picks from yesterday were 2 of 2, for a 35% gain. (17.5% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

GWSC - "Yeah Mr. Sykes has moved on to this play now...learn to profit from these kinds of moves when the herd shifts. Short here big time." - Gain of close to 32% on the easy short play today.
ISTA - "I like this stock over 3.75 (I know I said 3.50...meant 3.75, obviously.)."- Gain of close to 3% so far on the move.

Well it was certainly a jittery day for the Dow. After two rather large moves, the market decided it was time to take a rest and survey the surroundings for a while. Plus, there wasn't really too much big news out to sway the market in a certain direction. I think tomorrow will be big. The guess is that we will either have a similar day as today, or a medium move to the downside or upside. The candle today was an indecision candle, so we will have to see what happens.

Alright, let's move on to some new picks to watch for Thursday...here they are:

STSI - I know I have mentioned that this name several times before, but today they had some big news about losing a lawsuit or something of that nature. Something tells me the move was overdone today...it usually happens on these kinds of moves. After all, they are clearly going to fight it. Just by doing that, the stock should slowly move higher with people making bets.

MSFT - Man, have any of you checked out this chart lately? The last month has been green days all along but like two. It's gone from like $19 to $24 in a very short period of time for such abig company...meanwhile the rest of the market has stalled and even started to retreat. I think this follows soon. Put options?

FAS & FAZ - This two have begun their meeting to cross once more. If they ever get within the same price range...it might be worth a trade. Since these are naturally 3X weighted, the computing gets funky and their is definitely an arbitrage situation abailable. More about it later if they get closer.

NNLX - Big time small-cap penny spiker...not much you can do here. I'm not seeing any big news...it just looked like there was some intense buying activity towards the middle of the trading day today. Got to look to short here tomorrow.

MEA - I figured I couldn't stop without a long-term breakout buy just in case the market begins to turn up here soon. I'm a buyer here over $4 for a quick 10% or so. This is just a small trade that strokes the ego when it works. Nothing big...haha.

June 16th Review

The picks from yesterday were 2 of 4, for a 20% gain. (10% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

JAZZ - "Wow, here's another chance to short this sucker...wait for the first negative move." - Gain of around 11%...more to come.
HAFC - "Be ready to play this volatile sucker tomorrow...either a buy or short." - Nice huge gap open to short straight into yesterday. Gain of close to 9% on a trade.

Picks that were not triggered:

GLUU - "The long-term holders should be getting exhausted here...be ready to pull a short trigger." - Nice indecision candle here...watch for a big move tomorrow.
ACAS - "I'm looking for a slow move up to around the $5 area." - Nope, a big gap-up to the 4.50 area really killed this play. Should be a short now.

Well, we have lost a quick 250 or so points on the Dow, and we are looking vulnerable again. We now find ourselves at the 8,500 mark, a big mark to watch for the future. Something tells me we will get a nice bounce off of here and then break through. If we break, be ready to pull the continued short play on the SPY's or DIA's.

Here's a couple things to watch for tomorrow:

GWSC - This is the next short target for Mr. Sykes, so I'd definitely expect a big fall from these levels soon. When the herd moves, stocks move. Learn to play it and profit from it...easy as that.

ISTA - Nice stock breaking out to new highs...the idea is to find these tpyes and buy, buy, buy 'em. I like this stock over 3.50.

You all got any others? I'm struggling right now, but I'll have many more up tonite for Friday.

June 15th Review

The picks from yesterday were 3 of 5, for a 38% gain. (12.7% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

SPNG - "Promoters pump this stock up, and other promoters will take it down...profit either way." - Gain of around 15% on the short promotion by Mr. Sykes today.
ETFC - "Nice move over the day on Friday...I'm a seller here below $2 a share for a nice short opportunity." - Gain of around 5% on the move down today.
SLRY - "This stock has defied the typical 3-day up rule, so I'd really start watching for a move lower soon." - Nice move of around 18% today to the downside...more to come?? I hope so.

Picks that were not triggered:

MEXP - "This is definitely a SPNG type pump and dump, but I don't think it will make it as far. Be ready to short sooner rather than later." - Wow, another huge move out of this name...76% higher today...keep watching.
CDII - "Nice breakout over the $2 mark on Friday...I'm a buyer on a pullback before it heads to the $3 area. Nice pull back today, but the stock really sold off. I'm a buyer above 1.80, but flipping the position under.

Well, as I had predicted we finally got that big move to the downside. With all of that indecision, you just know that something big is going to happen. Today we finally got it. Something tells me this is just the beginning. A lot of people are saying that his market has overdone itself. I've been a believer in that statement for sometime now.

Let's move on to some picks for tomorrow...here's what I got:

Russell index moves - This should prove to make some interesting buys in the days/weeks ahead. There's an article that does a good job explaining what all is going on on CNBC.com by Bob Pisani. Let's find these companies and build a portfolio to buy and then spread the risk out between them. More to come from me on this soon.

JAZZ - Wow, this move is starting to get crazy as it is almost breaking out again to new highs. I thought this was done, but we may have just got another chance to short this sucker. Wait for that first negative move.

HAFC - Nice strong move to the $2 mark on some financing news. I would really like a breakout buy over the $2 mark, but this overall market could hinder that. Be ready to play it either way...it should be volatile.

GLUU - This stock is on the move after a combination breakout over the $1 mark and the 200-day MA. It's now up some 50%, so it should be getting a little tired. I think the long-term holders will start to take some losses back here and sell this thing off soon.

ACAS - I'm seeing a slow move to around the $5 mark in the days/weeks to come. From there it should either be ripe for a breakout or a fall back. Be ready to play it either way, but I like the buy up to $5 better now.

Weekend Update

The picks from last week were 14 of 24, for an overall gain of 109%. (7.79% compounded)

As I mentioned last week, Friday's are going to be tough to be around for during the market hours. It was no different this week, so that's why there was no Friday post. I figured I could just blend it all into one. After all, here's the Dow chart:

Just look at the area I have circled in the magenta. This is getting crazy...we have hardly moved in the last six days. I think something big is about to happen. My guess is that we go down. When the 50-day and the 200-day cross (known as a "golden cross") something big usually ensues. We are heading for that now, and this price action is weird. Basically everything but the stock market is bouncing wildly right now, so maybe traders have gone other places as the market is overdone anyway. They can't push it much higher, and something weird is holding it up. That's why we are stuck here right now.

Let's move on to some picks to watch for tomorrow...here some of mine:

SPNG - Finally the big panic came in this name on Friday when Mr. Sykes came out with short play. Promoters got this sucker up big time, and now they will most likely take it down. It's an easy way to take money from people...on the way up and on the way down.

MEXP - Just another SPNG type that is getting pumped higher. I don't think this will be run as ncie, though, so watch for a move downward sooner rather than later. Volume is nice, so it would be good to piggyback some of it.

CDII - Nice breakout over the $2 mark on Friday...I'm seeing this stock not having much resistance all the way up to the $3 area. Maybe worth a small position on a pull back on Monday if the market pulls back also?

ETFC - Huge volume day for the regular shares and the options area on Friday. This stock went as high as almost $2 before closing lower. Something tells me this is over...I'm ready to short on a green to red action play as long as it doesn't move over the $2 mark.

SLRY - This is quite a strong four day move out of Salary.com...what surprises me out of this move is the fact that it blasted right past the normal 3 day up rule. I'd still continue to watch for some negativity comign soon.

The picks from yesterday were 3 of 5, for a 23% gain. (7.7% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

GRH - "Repeat name under $3 a share tomorrow should be set up for a nice fall." - Gain of around 8% on the move today.
JAZZ - "Bio-tech name that has been spiking on rumor...sell the news or lack of news later on." - Gain of around 4% on this volatile name today.
ADLS - "After a big drop a while back, this stock is moving higher again. Buy over .80, short under .80." - Gain of around 11% on the negative move below .80 today.

Picks that were not triggered:

SHZ - "Mining is big right now, but this one has gone too far no legitimate news." - No such move yet today...today was the third up-day, however. I'm looking for that downward push soon.
ERPLQ - "Nice breakout over the 50-day MA...should come back soon though." - Nothing yet...keep watching it.

Well, even though our daily range seemed a little wider today, the close proved to be the fifth straight day of almost no move in the major indices. The market is simply still deciding here, and the volume is getting low because we are heading into the summer months. Expect these kinds of things more often this summer as we start to move back into some sort of normalcy in the markets. I'm preparing for a big move in either direction soon...that's usually what happens when we experience this coiling action for too long.

Okay, here's a few picks to watch for tomorrow:

SEH - Here's a stock strictly moving on earnings...and hype going into the earnings. The news was finally released today, so I think it's time to sell the news. Big investors are going to be selling their shares off to the small people right into this earnings move.

WPTE - Big, big move today after the breakout over the $1 mark yesterday/early this morning. These tend to overdue themselves...only short when you see the price action and volume confirm, however.

RBY - This Canadian gold stock just keeps on chugging higher. It's even breaking out to new highs...I'm a buyer here on the pullbacks. If it goes below 2.60, though, I'm out and cutting losses on the long position.

CPST - They've finally released a product today, and that's what really cause the spike. Volume was fantastic, so I think this could get a follow-up move tomorrow or next week as people begin to discover. Of course try to get a good fill on a pull back or something.

ROYL - Old oil play that has really been moving of late...Lebed ius rumored to be in this sucker, and that only means one thing...it's coming back down eventually. The herd has been filing in, and eventually it will be herding out when Lebed moves on to something else "BIG."

SPNG - Ha ha! Just a little update on this sucker...it almost touched .25 today, a double from the buy call in the .13 area. We shall see what continues to happen...

June 10th Review

The picks from yesterday were 2 of 5, for a 18% gain. (9% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

SAY - "This is the failed/fraud Indian company...and surprisingly, it is really moving again. It's breaking out again, you got to buy that stuff." - Gain of close to 16% on the move today.
SPRD - "I called the really nice breakout on this stock, but now I think it's time for a reversal." - Good for a percent or two...hopefully we get a more prolonged move tomorrow.

Picks that were not triggered:

SQNM - "I think we got a nice gap to fill from here over the $5 mark." - Well, this stock sure got hammered today. Seems to me that it's pretty much a washout from here on out.
GRH - "Over the next while, I think this stock will get to taste some downfall...it's almost doubled in a very, very short time." - And this stock did the exact opposite of SQNM...wow. Keep watching..."buy the rumor, sell the news" kind of move here.
ANVR - "This looks like a solid breakout over the 1.40 mark...waiting for a move." - We got a little pull back today that led us right to the 1.40 area. I'd pick up shares for a move higher from here now.

After a really nice, bullish open to the major indices today, we essentially closed with a non-move for the fourth consecutive day. This is getting weird, really weird. Meanwhile, the VIX has been slowly moving lower...but that's to be expected. The Fed released its Beige Book today, and I wouldn't call the results too positive. Oil was really a commodity moving higher today after inventories apparently fell with a report out this morning. The dollar was on the rise again, and that really played havoc with the treasuries. It appears to me that everything but the stock market is moving crazily right now...and that's the reason why the market isn't moving. It just doesn't know which way to go. The dollar and oil are both rising...that's the kind of thing that is confusing investors right now.
How about let's just focus on some other individual plays and see if we can profit with them?? Here's what I'm watching:

GRH - Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and repeat this name because I think it's one of the better plays out there right now. Any kind of move under the $3 mark tomorrow should open this stock for a bit of a run downward. Be ready to trade it quickly.

JAZZ - Huge spike today after they announced that they will be releasing some results on their Phase III drug type thing soon. You got to buy this rumor, but sell the news or lack thereof. I'd be willing to short this sucker under $3 also when the hype is over.

SHZ - Mining is going to be a big thing in the years to come I think, but this latest move is getting a little ridiculous. SHZ has essentially tripled on no news that I can find. This should just be one of those little green to red type plays.

ADLS - After a huge drop off a while back, this stock is slowly moving back higher. It's approaching the .80 mark, so I would buy it over that, but be ready to short whenever this stock makes its first negative move.

ERPLQ - As soon as this stock broke over its 50-day MA at around .12, it has been on a tear higher. It has now more than doubled, and I think this will obviously open up a shorting opportunity soon. We'll see...

June 9th Review

The picks from yesterday were 2 of 4, for a 23% gain. (11.5% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

GNVC - "The message boards are going crazy about this .80 breakout. I'm a buyer on their backs here." - Nice 17% move today. We'll have to see if it goes higher again tomorrow.
ATRC - "I think we get a retrace in this name soon...too much, too fast." - Gain of around 6% on the tradeable retrace today.

Picks that were not triggered:

RSOL - "It's no coincidence this stock moves higher when volume floods in. Be ready to short when the volume trails off." - Slowly but surely, the volume is decreasing. I'd start reserving shares daily for that big move.
SPNG - "This company is promoting like crazy of late...I'm a buyer now, but a long-term seller for sure with this possible scam." - Nice chance to pick up some shares today...is this a rest day or the first of a pullback?? We'll see.

I have to admit that the last three days in the Dow chart have been very weird. We have almost consistently close right where we opened for the day. I'm not sure if this is just true indecision for the market, or if some big player(s) is/are holding this market down for a while. Important news is rolling off the lines daily, but we just haven't moved anywhere. I'm not sure what it is going to take, but all we can do is just wait and watch. This doesn't mean that some specific picks won't still work...

Here's what I am tracking for tomorrow:

SQNM - We had a nice upward surge today right through the $5 mark. I'm not sure if it was news related or not because I'm not really seeing any press release. Either way, we got a huge gap to fill...I think we start doing that soon.

GRH - We've almost had a double in this name over the last two days. The volume was strong today, but I think we get at least a small pullback soon. I'd be waiting to short right into that kind of move soon.

SAY - Here's the failed Indian computer name that ended up being a big fraud. It has started to get very volatile of late, jumping around everywhere throughout the course of the day. I think these moves can be traded either way with some focus.

SPRD - I mentioned this name about a week or so ago when it was looking ready to break the important $2 resistance to the upside. It finally did, and since it has been on a tear all the way up to $3. Nothing but a nice 50% gain. I'm looking to short this sucker now that it has really moved.

AVNR - Nice possible cup-and-handle formation possibly appearing now. The stock broke out nicely above the 1.40 mark by the end of the day today. If it goes under 1.40 tomorrow, flip to a short position...if not, stay long and milk this sucker.

June 8th Review

The picks from yesterday were 3 of 5, for a 19% gain. (6.3% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

XTNT - "I'm expecting a large move down over the next few days/weeks in this name." - Well, big gap down with no such other move really. Gain of only 2% today if you weren't in on Friday.
HEPH - "I'm expecting a large move down over the next few days/weeks in this name." - Nice gain of around 7% so far today; should be a lot more soon.
CFW - "These oil drilling names are really flying lately...I would short this stock, but search for some other small-cap similar names to buy for a nice run up like this one had soon." - Gain of around 10% so far today.

Picks that were not triggered:

ABWTQ - "Big move coming with a mid-day breakout over the .20 mark in the future." - Gap-up and ka-put today...keep it on the watchlist.
RCL - "I'm looking for a breakout over the $16 mark for a quick dollar or so to the upside." - Tough overall market today to try and breakout...failed move.

I don't have much to say about the market today because I have been preaching about what to do for some time now.Buy those dips, buy those dips, buy those dips. It's really as easy as that. I was loading shares this afternoon when the major indices were down a good 1% or so, and boy did it pay off. Buyers rushed in at the end of the day and scooped up shares. Easy as one two three. CNBC was preaching bad news about Apple...buy during that beating and wait for the funds to come in and buy the bargains later on in the day. It's quite easy actually.

Here's some picks from me for tomorrow. Feel free to share some of your own too.

GNVC - The message boards have been a buzz about this name of late with the nice breakout over the .80 mark today. I'm a buyer of this breakout on the backs of these other buyers. The stock has a good chance of gapping, so locking in shares after-hours or pre-market might be something to look into.

ATRC - Nice continued breakout over the $3ish area...I think we will get a retrace in this name before too long. It's just been too strong of late. Have the shares at least reserved for some short of short trade soon.

RSOL - As volume has been pouring into this company of late, the share price has been on the move higher. It's no coincidence...these things happen for a reason. When volume trails soon, watch for a quick move lower.

SPNG - This company has been spending a BOATLOAD of money on advertising lately. I'm seeing commercials and billboards on multiple sports stadiums. I'm really not sure where all of the money is coming from. I'm a buyer now I guess, but a seller over the long-term.

Weekend Update

The picks from last week were 10 of 16, for an overall gain of 96%. (32% compounded)

Unfortunately, I forgot to mention on the blog last Wednesday evening that there was a good chance that I would maybe not be able to put a post up for Thursday and Friday. I was traveling yet again, and it was really up in the air whether I would find a computer/have time to put up a post and all. Sometimes the weekends in the summer can get a little hectic for me, so I'll try to remind you all when I won't be posting. If I won't be posting, I will try very, very hard to put up a Twitter update or two throughout the day, however. That's the great thing about Twitter!

Okay, let's move on to some talk about the stock market and what I'm seeing for the days/weeks ahead. There's not going to be any chart today because quite truthfully the chart is really messy. I'll look at the futures tomorrow and try to give a Twitter update of what I think. Commodities and the dollar should start rising together again this week and, I'd load up call options on every dip in the major indices. There's a lot of money sitting on the sidelines waiting to come in at every downturn.

Alright, here's some specific picks for tomorrow...feel free to share some of your own.

XTNT & HEPH - Similar kinds of bounce here in this names over the last two or three days. I'd be ready to go short in either of these names despite what the news was that caused these spikes. Just reserve some shares.

CFW - Oil and gas drilling name that has really been on the move. I mentioned that this sector could really get hot if oil prices stay around these levels. I would short this stock soon on a green to red move because it appears overdone, but I would look for more small names like this and buy, buy, buy.

ABWTQ - Here's a pink sheet name that is most likely a scammer, but the volume and price action is just too good to pass up. Volume was skyrocketing on Friday, and I think the .20 mark is something to watch. With a close above that, this stock could easily be off to the .30 area.

RCL - I know I mentioned this name a long, long time ago when it was trading down around in the $6 region as a nice buy for the long term. The ships just buy themselves were worth a great deal more than the current market cap (considering they could find a buyer for them). Now the stock is at $16 and looking for a breakout over that mark soon. Watch it for a quick buck or two.

June 3rd Review

The picks from yesterday were 3 of 6, for a 33% gain. (11% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

HEB - "Nice breakout over the 2.00 mark today, be ready for the continuation play." - Gain of another 12% today after the breakout yesterday.
SYMX - "Huge two-day spiker here...should be a nice short opportunity tomorrow." - Nice gain of around 11% on the easy trade today.
TOPS - Nice spike today, should lead to an easy short play soon." - Gain of an easy 10% on the negative move today.

Picks that were not triggered:

URRE - "Nice breakout over the 1.60 mark...look for more tomorrow." - Well, this turned out to be a failed breakout...no play, but keep it on the watchlist.
CCO - "Watching for the breakout over the 5.50 mark tomorrow." - Wow, another failed breakout...it must have to do with the poor overall market.
AGEN - "Huge spiking stock that should be over done soon." - Wow wow, this really wasn't over done yet. Now I think it is though...be ready with shares tomorrow. It was an easy scalper today.

Well, today's move on the major indices somewhat surprised me after the huge breakout over the 8,600 mark on Monday. The end of the day was more telling of what should happen, however. Traders/investors are going to use every small dip they can find to lock in some shares. Quite truthfully, if you are a fund manager and you have missed this latest March rally, you shouldn't be a fund manager anymore. Everybody wants a piece, and there is of course a ton of money sitting around on the sidelines. I think we move higher tomorrow.

AGEN - Repeat play here...the chart is just looking to dang appealing to forget about it. I'll be watching this thing closely for that first negative close. RSI and a little bit of brain power tells us this has got to be overextended.

EEM - After the Citigroup move to "underweight" Russia and what not this morning, the emerging markets were slaughtered. Put options look really nice here for EEM. It has almost doubled since the start of the March rally. Yes, doubled! Yes, we are talking and ETF tracking major indices.

TIVO - The televisionish company won a big lawsuit against DISH yesterday, and that is what created this huge pop of late. It got some upgrades along with it today, but I still think it is a little overdone here. I'll short near $11 and let the hype wear off to around $9.

AHD - Oil drilling companies are obviously on the move higher based on the move higher in oil to almost $70 a barrel. I think oil should get crushed rather quickly soon. That should hit these companies hard, but I'd still this buyout above $5 for this company.

CMRG - Continued daily breakouts that could easily lead to a move to around $3.50 to $4 just because I'm not seeing too much resistance up to that point. I'm a buyer over $2.50 for sure.

June 2nd Review

The picks from yesterday were 4 of 5, for a 31 % gain. (7.8% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

CRDC - "Nothing but a so-called 'dead cat bounce' here14%
GROW - "Simple little green to red type play...be ready with shares to scalp this sucker." - Gain fo almost 4% today on the trade.
ATSG - "The play is to find a quick green to red shorting opportunity over the next few days." - First off, I apologize for mixing up the letters on this ticker. However, it did go for a quick 3%.
NEPH - "Super penny stock that has really been on the rise quickly...short it now and wait around for the profits to roll in." - Gain of around 10% so far.

Picks that were not triggered:

CTIC - I didn't really have a play on for this one...just wanted to state what was going on in those call options. Highway robbery is what it was.

Today was nothing more than really a consolidation day for the Dow and other major indices. Most of the others like the S&P have broken their 200-day MA, but the Dow is still struggling. We shall see tomorrow what happens with that. I'm thinking/hoping we get a move back to the prior resistance line at 8,600 soon. That would set us up to move much higher over the longer-term. The dollar continues to get smacked around, but I think we could be in for a reversal sometime soon. We'll just have to wait and see.

Here's a few picks for tomorrow to watch closely:

URRE, CCO, & HEB - What do all of these plays have in common?? They are good-looking breakouts. The prices are 1.60, 5.50, and 2.00, respectively. If the stock is moving higher again first thing tomorrow morning and the volume is there with it, I'd look to buy some shares for the ride.

AGEN, SYMX, & TOPS - Here's three stocks that have already broken out and have extended themselves too far in my mind. These are the typical green to red kind of shorts. Reserve shares and when you see the negativity, don't be afraid to pull the trigger and short, short, short.

It's a rather short post tonite, so I'll include a cartoon for these current stock market times:

June 1st Review

My picks from yesterday were 3 of 5, for a 32% gain. (10.7% compounded)

Picks that were triggered:

DBA - "Nice breakout buy here...I'm liking the move of commodities higher as the dollar slides." - Gain of 4% straight on the ETF, but option moves were close to 40%. Nice day, nice trade.
NG - "Gold stock that should continue to rise with gold prices over the next week or so." - Nice 3% move just today alone...I'm looking for more quite truthfully.
ZAAP - "After two strong days that have left this stock doubled, this should falter soon and turn into a great short opportunity." - Nice chance today for a quick trade for 9%.

Picks that were not triggered:

GPRE - "This stock is going to be set up for a great short soon...just be patient." - I said to be patient to short for a reason...this stock really gapped up from yesterday. Be ready to short under 5.50 soon.
SLV - "Options are saying this will be heading towards the next big resistance mark at $19 soon...I'm a believer. Buy the dips when necessary." - Good chance to pick a few shares up today...this is the kind of move we have to have every once in a while if we want a move to $19.

Even despite the filing for bankruptcy by GM, this market really rallied higher and busted out to new highs. The Dow broke 8,600 for the first time, and boy did it show. The major indices were up a solid 2% at least across the board. I've told you to watch these points for sometime now, so hopefully some of you all profited? Now I am actually thinking about being ready to sell the indices, however, because of the three consecutive days of upward movement. It's been almost a 500 point move for the Dow in three days...that's just too much to be sustainable. Putski's look interesting tomorrow at their depressed prices.

Okay, here's some other picks to watch for tomorrow:

CRDC - After almost a month of straight selling, this stock bounced one hearty time today. The bad thing is that it will only lead to more selling as people that have tried to buy the previous dips will just want out. Be ready to short.

CTIC - Huge buying going on in this name, and call options for the JAN 2010 2.50 strike were really going like crazy. I know of many people loading them without knowing what is going on. In order for those things to become in the money, the stock has to be at $25 a share. Yes, $25. Someone on the Street had them a $400K day by selling tens of thousands of call options to uninformed buyers...

GROW & ASTG - Here's just a pair of the usual shorting suspects. Big moves in the upward direction with not much news to support. Sellers will eventually present themselves, just wait for that usual first negative move.

NEPH - Penny stock super spiker of almost 500%. People will being to notice this name sooner and later and start piling on the shorts. It's a Nasdaq listed stock, so most everyone can short. Maybe Mr. Sykes will spot it and really hammer it soon with an alert?? It'd be nice.
