February 13th Review

$11,956, Down $10 on the day.

Positions traded for a gain: FRPT (No loss/gain besides commissions)

Positions traded for a loss: NONE

Open positions: None, first time in a long time.

The overall market was cooking today, with the Dow up 179, the Nasdaq up 54, and the S&P up 18. Here are some of the news stories that affected the financial world today: President Bush signed the Economic Stimulus Plan, Morgan Stanely cuts 1,000 jobs in its Mortgage department, and Yahoo is exploring a potential alliance with News Corp. The biggest story of all of those, was that retail sales were very upbeat today.

I did take a huge position in FRPT yesterday, but today I decided that I need to either reduce the position or just get out. I decided to just remove myself after a very slow day today. I ended up with no losses besides the $5 of commissions on each side of the trade. COIN really surged at the end of the day today. I wish I could have been in for the gap up open tomorrow. FSLR came out with huge numbers this morning, and they shot up 30% today, while many of the other solar names were up nicely also. I really wish I would have taken a gamble yesterday, and bought some calls going into the earnings. I could have been up over 300% easily today.

The two big things that I am going ot watch tomorrow are COIN and DISK. COIN really surged at the end of the day, and I am going to be looking to short it if it gaps higher at the open tomorrow. I know I haven't talked about DISK too much, but the only reason I am looking at this one is because they announce earnings after the bell tomorrow. They were supposed to be bought out for 4.20 a share, and now they are at 1.22. This looks very appealing, and I think I am going to try and play with some dangerous earnings tomorrow. It should be very interesting, and hopefully very profitable.
