tmkDonations

Over the past months, I have recieved numerous e-mails from many of my great readers. They are all wondering how they can donate some of their trading gains to me. At first I didn't really understand why you all would want to donate, but upon further inspection/research, I guess I am one of the only people out there to give "ahead of time" stock picks for free. All of you must be so used to paying for great stuff, that you think using my site is like stealing or something. Thus, I have devised a plan...

Here's the deal. Quite truthfully, I really don't want your donations. There are so many other needy organizations out there that could put your money to incredible use. It would just feel wrong of me if I kept your trading gains...kind of like a thief. After all, this blog is for me as much as it is for you. So my plan is to let all of you donate to a cause that I really support too. It is called the "Invisible Children" movement.

For 20 some years, Uganda has been involved in a bitter war between the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) and the GoU (Government of Uganda). It has been called the most neglected humanitarian emergency in the world today. The war was started over a woman called Alice Lakwena, who said she had heard a voice tell her to overthrow the Ugandan government. Through time, the LRA was formed to do just that, but because of their extreme tactics, few people followed.

To continue his goal of defeating the Ugandan government, the leader of the LRA, Joseph Kony, was forced to find soldiers to fight. Who did he go after? Children. Innocent children. It is guessed that over 90% of his army was comprised of abducted children. He would go into the villages at night, abduct the children and later brainwash their minds, turning them into killing machines. This process continued for years, many years, too many years.

Only recently has the condition of the area started to get a tad bit better. After some successful peace talks, the region of northen Uganda has seen some of its most peaceful time lately. The end is not here yet, though. Close to 1M individuals are still displaced, and the ones that have gone back home have literally nothing.

So as a favor, I ask you to please think about donating if you have been successful at trading after reading this blog. If its as little as $5, that's fine. I am going to keep a little meter on this post, tracking our goal. My initial goal is to donate $5,000 to the Invisible Children program through this blog. Now that may seem like a lot, but if everybody can just focus on their trading and learn the profitable ways, then the gains should come easily. Below, there is a button for those of you that want to go directly to the main donation page. If you would like to take a more in-depth look at everything the Invisible Children network does, feel free to click the link above.

Important : The thing that I ask of you to do to help me out in tracking our progress to the goal is to leave a comment on this post telling me how much you donated. If you wish to remain anonymous, there is always a button to check before you place the comment. Also, I do believe that you will receive a tax reciept when you donate. Not only are you donating to a great cause, but it also lowers your taxes at the end of the year. A perfect combo if you ask me.

We are already 11.5% (almost 15%!!...let's do it!!) of the way there...thanks to all those who have already donated! I am sure it is more than appreciated. Just so you all know, I will keep a very close track of this meter when more donations come in. It will be updated as soon as I see the donations. Thanks.

I donated $25. Although my long term buy and hold account is way down (big mistake) I've made money on many of the plays you mention on the blog and chat and think you provide an incredible resource, thanks again! Have you seen the movie War Dance that focuses on this issue and some of the Ugandan children from the camps who participate in a musical competition in the big city? A great movie based on an incredibly tragic event. This is a wonderful cause and a great selfless idea TMK, you rock!
